How Far Will The Baltimore Ravens Go In 2010?

Posted by: Matt Ryan In: NFL

The Baltimore Ravens are a fairly new franchise in the NFL. It took a lot of time, stress, and conversations for Art Modell to get the NFL to agree to the Ravens moving to Baltimore (from Cleveland). The first two years, of their new career, was spent in Memorial Stadium (the home of the Baltimore Colts). After this stint, the Raven's new stadium was ready for play. Over the next 10 years the stadium would undergo numerous name changes, leaving the Ravens without a true 'home'.

Coach Marchirboda, while a good coach, could not get the Ravens out of the rut they were in. They were not lying horribly, but they were not standing out as a good team either. Two years after their move into their new stadium, in 1998, a new head coach came on board -- Brian Billick. The beginning of their first season with their new coach was tough; however, something changed and they ended the year on a better note. Now that some time has passed, everyone has had some time to learn how to play on each other's strengths; the team is starting to pull together. In fact, they ended the '99 season with an 8-8 record.

Not even ten years later, the 2008 season, the Baltimore Ravens nearly made it to the Super Bowl. In a fight on home turf against the Jaguars, they won their spot in the AFC playoffs placement. An unfortunate turn of events allowed them to slip out of the running for the Super Bowl, but they made it farther than they ever had.

With the '08 season leaving sports enthusiasts with some hope, the '09 season had nothing but positive openings. Raven fans had an exciting year in 2009. The team played exceptionally hard during summer training. Preseason practice and games proved this to be true. Their '08 season gave them 26th place in draft picks, from which the Ravens went home with Michael Oher.

The Ravens are a new team as they are just starting their 12th season on the NFL. Regardless, after some hard work, they have made their way to some big games and attention. Everyone is excited about the 2010 season. The tickets will sell quick so be sure get your tickets as soon as they go on-sale!

Notable Events From This Year’s Super Bowl

Posted by: Robin Parch In: NFL

Well, if you love the game of football, then you probably enjoyed this year's outstanding Super Bowl game that was so awesome to watch. This was the third year in a row that this game was truly worth watching, unlike the games from the years prior to then.

The Indianapolis Colts were the team that was picked to win the game, but the New Orleans Saints really gave folks a surprise when they beat them. Drew Brees , along with the rest of the offense, played an outstanding game, but that's not to say that their defense didn't play just as well, doing a great job taking on Peyton Manning, the Colt's quarterback.

So, let's discuss down some of the highlights of Super Bowl XLIV. Perhaps you didn't get to see the game; if that is the case, then these are the things that you would want to know about.

He started off a little shaky, but once that passed, Drew Brees had an almost perfect game. He began it by only getting three completions from the first seven attempts, but then he went on to complete 29 out of the next 32 attempts. He finished the game with an impressive total of 32 completions out of 39 attempts with 288 yards, no turnovers and 2 touchdown passes.

These statistics are truly superb and, of course, Brees received the award for giving such an efficient performance as a quarterback in this Super Bowl.

Perhaps just as impressive was the performance of the young Saints kicker Garrett Hartley, who made all three of his field goal attempts. Having successfully made kicks from 44, 46, and 47 yards, all of these were integral to the team's victory, and extremely clutch considering that the Saints trailed the Colts when he made two of his kicks.

And finally, when the game was over, Peyton Manning did something that you just don't see in the Super Bowl. The quarterback for the Colts did not offer congratulations to or even shake hands with any of the players on the Saints team - he just quickly walked off the field.

The custom is that the players on the losing team will congratulate the players on the winning team, so what Manning did is being called poor sportsmanship by a lot of people. To the contrary, Drew Brees stated that he does not hold anything against Manning because he knows how that frustration feels.

Aside from entertainment, this writer additionally regularly shares writing on queen size headboards and full size metal headboards.

Cash in on Casino Manners

Posted by: Zeeman Haus In: players

Yes, going to the casino is great! In most of these establishments the small timer is treated as well by the staff as the high rollers. Unlike the rest of your life, here everyone wishes you good luck and seems to genuinely mean it! Yes, this is a much friendlier environment than your mother in law's house. But there are some things you should know to keep you looking as cool as you feel.

Remember the whole "Everything I need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" movement? Yeah, this doesn't apply to casino etiquette. Well mostly doesn't, the being nice part you should do everywhere you go. So here are some common faux pas people often make on their first few trips to the house of chance.

Gaming tables are the first things you need to consider. You can stand behind someone who doesn't mind and watch the game as it unfolds, but usually the dealer will not answer many questions until you sit down to play. Sometimes if you build a quiet repartee with one of the players, they might even show you their cards and this is a big help as well. Do not sit down at the table with the intension of just watching. This will elicit a "well?" look by the dealer. If you're sitting you are expected to play.

The dealer can be your biggest friend in a way. Often once you establish yourself as a polite player and ask for a tip or two, the deal will give you a few pointers. Listen to them, but don't hold them accountable if you lose. Dealers make the same amount if you win or lose, they have to, and it's the law. However, you can tip you dealer if their suggestions help you to win big.

Remember though, you are not playing the deal, you are playing the house. The dealer does not get to choose much about what they do, in fact they don't get to pick anything at all. They are held to a strict set of rules and breaking them will result in termination and a revocation of their license. So if you are consistently loosing you might want to realize two things: it's not the dealer's fault and the one person playing every single hand has been you.

Getting angry with the dealer makes as much sense as getting angry with a remote control car instead of the guy holding the remote. In this case getting angry with that guy doesn't make much sense either. Casinos do not stay in business by giving away money.

The final thing that will embarrass you potentially, is trying to touch the dealer. If you change in money to the dealer for chips, it is not good form to actually try to hand them this. Physical contact between deal and player is limited to...well, none. They are not allowed to come in contact with you at all. This prevents weird things from happening, like cards being passed and the like.

Following these simple steps will help you enjoy your casino experience. Being the nice person who plays a game as a game and has a good time is just part of it. You definitely want to make the right impressions with the staff. Usually it is very much appreciated.

The Chicago Bears – A Hopeful 2010 Season

Posted by: Matt Ryan In: NFL

The Chicago Bears are one of the most beloved teams across the NFL, and one of the oldest as well. They have been playing professional football since before 1920, and have been playing their all time rivals -- the Green Bay Packers -- since only a couple years after their original start. Over this time, the Packers and Bears have played more than 170 games; fans can look forward to this battle every season. The Bears have always played well as a team, regardless of team members, even back when they were first formed. In fact, the team didn't experience big losses until nearly the 1930s. The Bears colors, that you know today, have been part of who they are since only three years after they started playing in 1922.

Chicago sports fans are very loyal and passionate about their teams, and all know who Wrigley field belongs to -- the Chicago Cubs. Ironically, the Bears needed a field to play on, back in the day, and that is where they scrimmaged. They soon thereafter had a field to call their own --Soldier field. Over the years the stadium began to fall apart, and was remodeled and ready to play in by the 2003 season. The stadium need such help, in fact, that only the street wall remains from the original, and the name was even changed to Soldier Field II.

The Chicago Bears have always made record sales for home games, and even games on the road. Ticket sales, for the Chicago bears, are well within the top 20 highest sales across the entire league. In fact, they are within the top 10 most profitable teams in the NFL, and its history, with a cash flow of 1.1 billion dollars. The combination of their solid history, the 2009 roster changes, and summer training, the 2009 season was just as eventful as every other season the Bears have given their fans. Jay Cutler, a Pro Bowl quarterback from the Broncos, joined the Bears in the spring of 2009, which added some great talent to their offensive line.

After 90 years on the league, the Bears have retired 13 numbers. Players like Walter Payton, Harold Grange, Sid Luckman, George Halas, George McAfee, and Bill George -- some old and some more recent. Other retired jerseys belong to Willie Galimore, Dick Butkus, Bill Hewitt, Clyde Turner, Gayle Sayers, Brian Piccolo, and Bronko Naqurski. Their history runs deep and will for many years to come. Bears fans are just as dedicated to their team, as the team is to the field and their fans.

There is nothing quite like being at a football game and hearing the players throw each other around the field. The sweat, grunting, play calls, and yelling are enough to get anyone excited about the game. Many say you don't really experience football until you see the Chicago Bears play, especially live. This will be another astonishing year for the team. Don't miss you chance to see them play, live, at Soldier Field II.
